new year's in sb

we wrapped up our week in palm springs with lots of pool time and golf cart rides for kiah...and a lovely little cold too. boo. i'm sure he picked that up flying. oh, the joys of having to travel for holidays.

we loaded up saturday morning and made the drive up to santa barbara...it was gorgeous. just unbelievable beautiful WARM sunshine and clear skies. oh it was lovely. when we arrived the walters household was already hopping and full of guests! the girls hit up trader joes to get dinner and snacks for the weekend, came back and relaxed...i even took a nap - when was the last time i did that?! our plans for NYE weren't all that exciting to be totally honest. two babes, four parents, a pregnant lady and a few others who value sleep over celebrating will do that. ;)

i think most of us were in bed or close to it right around midnight. the next morning we were all up bright and early for breakfast and a walk around the neighborhood! we made another trip to blenders and made some cookie dough (which eventually got made into cookies). eric and i drove over to see "mom & dad #2" tony and barbara askew so they could meet kiah. he was all smiles for them and loved all the attention barbara was giving him!! he started to melt down so we decided it was time to go. a viewing of crazy stupid love was the planned activity for the evening and a great way to end the day.

monday morning there was much of the same; breakfast and a walk, although this walk took us down to upper montecito for a treat at pierre lafond's :). after showers we loaded up the cars and drove out to goleta to check out the monarch butterfly sanctuary! i have never seen anything like it - very very cool. it was another beautiful day and kiah, of course, loved being outside.

i think the highlight of the day may have been when eric took him out of the stroller...he squealed when eric put him up on his shoulders! it was awesome :). low-light of the day...having to leave :(.
