and by saddle i mean airplane. yeah...just a week after flying home from our christmas and new years festitivities we headed back to the airport and california. this time it was to surprise grandpa tom for his birthday! his birthday was the day aftert christmas but because we spent the holiday with my family we didn't get to celebrate the big 6-0 with him. we decided this was just not okay so up and down we went again!

it was a short and sweet visit. we got in late friday night and left midday on sunday, but we had enough time to squeeze in lunch at in-n-out, a visit to hobby lobby, a walk to froyo, and a surprise birthday party! in-n-out was delicious as usual, and nope totally wasn't sick of it considering that was the fourth visit in three weeks ;). the trip to hobby lobby however was a first for me and wow - that place is amazing and scary! it was awesome!! i learned we do have hobby lobby in wa...the closest one is in lynnwood, which actually isn't that close. close enough to make a trip maybe once every six months. or once a year. totally not convenient but it might be worth it.
the warmer weather was perfect for a walk, and the party was definitely a surprise! a little weird to be in a room full of people who "know" you (rather know who you and your child are) but don't actually
know you nor you them. it was fun though, even if i was pooped from all the traveling! kiah was a trooper and did really well all day and was handling all the people pretty well until a kind-hearted soul accidentally play-bit his finger a little too hard. that resulted in the meltdown of all meltdowns and it was off to bed we went.

it was good to see eric's family again and i know they loved seeing kiah and introducing him to their friends! happy belated birthday tom!
