7 months!

the arrival of calvin has had me thinking about kiah's arrival. hard to believe that was seven months ago. time passing this quickly makes me feel old. boo. ok on to the stuff you really want to hear about!

kiah john is such a joy.  he is so much fun right now!! he likes to play, is pretty good at entertaining himself for at least five minutes - haha i joke, he actually can do closer to 20 minutes - be read to, go outside or anywhere that is not home, loves people, and watches everything. and by everything i mean everything. especially food. if you eat in front of him he will literally watch every bite go from your plate to your mouth. it is hilarious and ridiculous...i swear i feed him! a lot!

he is much more content on his tummy these days
he is busy. very busy. when he is awake he wants to play or be around a lot of people (by a lot anyone other than mommy will actually suffice). he likes to run errands because it is different and usually someone else is talking to him. he also loves bsf and church for the same reason :). he has started to move and is pretty close to crawling. he scootches backwards when he attempts to crawl right now. he could still walk before he crawls because he would much rather stand than sit. he refuses to bend his legs when i try to set him down, and always wants to play at his stand up toy. this requires an adult to sit next to him because he has a tendency to bail every once in awhile. he has gotten better and has even removed both hands at the same time briefly standing before falling on his bum :).
push up position - so close to crawling!
as he learns and understands more, our role as parents has definitely been made more noticeable. this is most obvious during mealtimes. here are a few video clips to show you what i mean :)

i'm sorry...i find these very entertaining. i don't know why he does that grunting/arms straightening thing but it is pretty hilarious, and he often is patting everything with his hands. at the end, when he leaves his mouth open? that is how most meals go...with him leaning forward waiting for the next spoonful. oh! and you may have noticed his latest skill - babbling! he just started doing that yesterday and today has even more consonants than yesterday! the whining however, is something we are working on, because i don't want to listen to that for the next 20 years. i know that right now whining is a result of him not being able to clearly communicate with us what he wants, so we are trying to teach him sign language to solve that problem. so far, i'm pretty sure he understands what the signs mean but isn't able to sign back yet. soon though i hope he will!

three...two...one...

BLAST OFF!!
he is a sweet boy; loves to laugh and giggle and play rough. he smiles at people he recognizes and will usually smile if i ask him to say "hi" to strangers. last week when eric was out of town i was talking to him on the phone and put him on speaker so kiah could hear and kiah's whole face lit up when eric started speaking to him! it was SO cute. i love him so much, couldn't imagine life without him!
